The population of the study comprised 9,764 respondents (647 principals and 9,117 teachers) in private secondary schools in Anambra State. A sample size of 977 respondents made up of 65 principals and 912 teachers which represent 10% of the entire population was drawn using multistage sampling technique. A researcher structured questionnaire titled Human Resources Management Questionnaire (HRMQ) was used in data collection.  The instrument was validated by three experts and reliability was ascertained using Cronbach Alpha which yielded reliability co-efficient of 0.86 and 0.80 for Cluster I and II of the HRMQ.  Research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation scores and t-test was used to test the hypotheses. The finding of the study revealed among others that staff motivational strategies are employed by private secondary schools for promoting sustainable development.
